Profit Loss Calculator for USDINR, JPYINR, GBPINR, EURINR in MCX-SX and NSE Futures:

For profit/loss calculation, we have taken USDINR currency future, which trades in MCX-SX and NSE.

Formulas that we have mentioned here can be applied for other currency pairs like GBPINR, EURINR, and JPYINR currency futures for calculating their respective Profit or Loss. You have to replace the buy price, sell price, and contract size accordingly and you will get the formula results. The default lot size is 1000 for all USDIR, GBPINR, EURINR, and JPYINR. We have not mentioned the contract expiry date in the examples mentioned below. Until the life of the contract (expiry date), you have the option to do cover your transactions. If you have bought then you have to sell it. If you have sold; then you have to buy it.

Profit/Loss Calculation: Example: USDINR

Example A:

Futures Type=Long (Buy and Sell) Currency Pair=USDINR; Lot Size = 1000; Contract Size = 5; Brokerage = .03%; Taxes = .01%; Bought Price = 50 and Sold Price = 55;

1) Total Bought Price:
= (Bought Price * Lot Size * No. of contracts)
= 50 * 1000 * 5
= 2, 50,000

2) Total Sold Price:
= (Sold Price * Lot Size * No. of contracts)
= 55 * 1000 * 5
= 2, 75,000

3) Brokerage:
We have taken brokerage as .03%
Note: Some brokers charge .01%, .05%
Some brokers charge on how many contracts
Some brokers don't charge brokerage but you have to maintenance fees
= (Total Bought Price + Total Sold Price) * .03%
= (2, 50,000 + 2, 75,000) *.0003
= (525000) * .0003
= 157.5

4) Taxes:
(Service Transaction Tax + Transaction Charges + Service Taxes + Education Cess + Higher Education Cess + Stamp Duty + SEBI Turnover Tax) Charges.

To be on the safer side, we have taken the abovementioned charges as .01% of your total turnover, but it will be less than that. Actual charges are 20 rupees and 47 paise. These charges will be different based on government advice.
= (Total Bought Price + Total Sold Price) * .01%
= (2, 50,000 + 2, 75,000) *.0001
= 52.5

Total Profit:
= (Total Sold Price - Total Bought Price) - (Brokerage + Taxes)
= (2, 75,000 - 2, 50,000) - (157.5 + 52.5)
= 25,000 - 200
= 24,800

Total Loss:
= (Total Sold Price - Total Bought Price) - (Brokerage + Taxes)
= (2, 50,000 - 2, 75,000) - (157.5 + 52.5)
= -25,000 - 200
= 25,200

Total Profit:
= (Total Sold Price - Total Bought Price) - (Brokerage + Taxes)
= (2, 75,000 - 2, 50,000) - (157.5 + 52.5)
= 25,000 - 200
= 24,800

Example D:
